Senior Petroleum Engineer

Purpose and Scope
Provides specialist advice to the PDD Teams and PDD Management in COMPANY. This includes highly specialized and unique expertise in at least one (but potentially in more) of the following areas: well completion and design, stimulation, well and system performance, artificial lift, rig less operations and coiled tubing applications, corrosion, scale and metering. Depending on the scope of work for this specialist area of expertise in COMPANY, the role may be a full time job or combined with e.g. a PE coordinator role.

Advises on quality control monitoring tools to ensure adherence to recognized industry and COMPANY standards for his/ her area of expertise.
Acts as authority on his/ her specialist area of Petroleum Engineering and ensures that lessons learned are shared with all Teams.

Accountabilities

· Depending on the scope of work for this specialist area (see above), accountabilities may be combined with e.g. level 5 accountabilities for a PE coordinator.
· In addition the following accountabilities apply for his/ her specialized area of expertise:
· Leads across team task forces and initiates/ contributes to studies and work plans
· Reviews detailed proposals for activities/ studies for all Asset Teams and recommends available alternatives.
· Reviews relevant report/ documents prior to submission to shareholders. Reviews papers/ abstracts prior to submission to Conferences
· Reviews application of new technology, including directing and participating in feasibility studies to recommend adoption of new techniques and equipment. Recommends and plans special tests or test runs prior to recommending field wide implementation
· Reviews methods currently in use and if needed initiates the development of standard methods to enhance work processes in expertise area (in cooperation with Discipline expert)
· Member of PE career ladder Committee
· Identifies specialized training requirements and courses to fill the gap (s) in cooperation with Discipline expert.
· Keeps abreast of technological development in the field of petroleum engineering.
· Attends conferences, seminars and reviews technical periodicals.

Key Performance Indicators

· Depending on the scope of the job, e.g. level 5 KPIs for a PE coordinator may also be included here.

· In addition the following KPIs apply for his/ her specialized area of expertise:
· Optimum results from task forces, studies.
· Colleagues and team members feedback.
· Well developed, fully justified proposals with all necessary details.

· Signed off routing slips.
· Improved quality of reports to shareholders
· Improved quality of papers submitted to conferences.
· Adopted new techniques and equipment.
· Comprehensive pilot study/ field test report
· Improved work processes and QC procedures.
· Number. of career ladders carried out
· Feedback from asset teams and course participants
· Up to date with the state of the art in well technologies and procedures.
· Embrace new technology and find practical applications for it.

Knowledge
B. Sc. or higher degree in Petroleum Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent.

Experience
Over 15 years wide petroleum engineering experience, with at least 8 years hands on experience in the specific expertise area.
