Borouge Marketing - Senior Product Development Engineer

Borouge Pte Ltd is now seeking an outstanding individual for the post of Senior Product Development Engineer. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and reporting to Product Development Manager – Innovation Centre.
Role Purpose:
Development of PE and PP products by leading or participating in Innovation Projects in relevant field, and leading or participating in other R&D or Business application developments. Responsible for up-scaling, evaluating, testing and approving quality and performance of new grades in Borouge (in given field). Responsible for coaching functional teams to ensure effective product development targets in respective fields are met.
Contribution:
C1. Area or Responsibility:
• Leading application evaluations, optimisation and quality/ performance approvals of new up-scaled PE and PP products in Borouge (I+II) expansion projects.
• Independently developing new PE and PP products by leading or participating in Innovation Projects and meeting project plans, milestones and product targets in co-operation with R&D and business units
• Leading application projects/tasks and meeting target deliverables and milestones
• Provide BU Marketing and TS with necessary technical and regulatory documentation to allow product commercialization
• Management of all customer related specifications and master files like Internal Product Specifications, Technical Delivery Specifications and technical part of Product Data Sheets during the development phase
• Responsible for products meeting applicable IPR and liability requirements by initiating, finalising and patenting innovation projects and initiation of liability and FTO studies when needed
• Technical claim investigations, including reporting and conclusions on customer complaints within own area
• Contribute to overall HSE&Q performance by keeping high standards in relevant work environment focusing on continuous improvements
• Lead technical external projects and studies supporting R&D, Innovation Projects and Application research.
• Proper documentation and reporting of own work according to internal processes
• Support customer and other laboratory quality system audits

• Timely delivery of Innovation Project milestones and targets on new products and other projects/tasks
• Timely evaluation, optimisation and approvals of new up-scaled products in Borouge 1 and 2 start-up product mix
• Invention disclosures and patenting in projects

• Lead and coach a project team to deliver results according to project plans and targets
• Ensures relevant scientific, technical and skills are existing in project teams or are acquired, e.g. by contacts/literature, to meet project targets

C3. Customer:
• Co-operation with Business Units, R&D (B&B), IC specialists to generate creative solutions to meet project targets and market needs.
• Delivering expected results to business units on products, investigations, and application developments
• Exploring customer and value chain needs by meeting stakeholders, co-operation (customers, machine manufacturers…) and visits
• Gives technical papers/lectures inside and outside the company to promote Borouge products and image

C4. Interfaces:
• Following guidelines, processes, and directives from the IC management team
• Co-operation with relevant Borouge/Borealis R&D or business networks
• Support Borouge ADP operations by participating in relevant QC and Plant/Product Customer Support Teams…etc.
• Continuously finding new technical solutions or unmet business needs by co-operating with value chain partners, like customers, machine manufacturers, end users etc.
• Focal point for contacts with third parties within own area

• Close co-operation with Borouge ADP QC and operations by meetings and fulfilling action plans
Skills:
S1. Education
• Graduate (MS or PhD) in Chemistry, Polymer Science or a related discipline
S2. Experience
• Minimum 5-10 years experience in PO material R&D
• Excellent polymer structure – property – application relation knowledge for PE and PP
• Good knowledge of plastic markets and applications
• Good knowledge of polymer technologies, catalysts, and additives
• Good knowledge of plastics processing, testing and analytical techniques.
• Project management capability and knowledge
• Scientific approach to product development
• Experience in relationship / scientific network building
• Good knowledge of IPR patenting process and patent writing
• Planning, prioritization ,communication (oral & written), presentation, accuracy, coaching, and feedback
• Good communication in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Good IT skills (Microsoft…)
