Job Description: Maintenance & Compliance Trainer - RLOC
The Maintenance & Compliance Trainer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring training material in compliance with Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives and regulatory standards as well as company policies and procedures. A significant responsibility will be the coordination and facilitation of vendor provided training and internal certification of maintenance technicians.
Another significant role will be the coordination of auditing for regulatory and/or corporate compliance, conducting training, and leading communication efforts of OE activities specific to the areas of responsibilities.
This position is being filled as part of the Operational Excellence Readiness Team, in conjunction with new plant construction anticipating a March 2009 start-up. The initial role is to ensure technicians are properly trained to execute their functions for the continued operation of the facility with the respective department upon plant start-up.
Operational Excellence is a management system that incorporates health, safety, environmental, reliability and efficiency programs in achieving and sustaining high levels of performance.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Training and qualification of plant Mechanical, Instrument & Electrical maintenance craft personnel.
Coach mechanical, Instrument, and Electrical craft personnel in the safe and compliant techniques regarding installation, troubleshooting and repair of equipment i.e. rotating equipment, fixed equipment and mobile hoisting equipment.
Coach mechanical / Instrument, Electrical craft personnel in the implementation and compliant techniques of the Process Safety Management (PSM) system.
Schedule and plan training activities.
Assist with training, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of Q-Chem facility.
Coordinate the development & revision of SMP’s written by maintenance personnel.
Assist with the development of the training programs.
Develop and assist others in developing new procedures and training course materials as identified through employee input, MOC process, audit findings, incident investigations, or PHA process.
Delivers training on the SMP’s to assigned personnel for certification.
Administers training and qualification testing for assigned personnel.
Assists in job-specific training curriculum development, development of training schedules and administration of the new/transfer and contract employee orientation and plant entry programs as required.
Maintain files and accurate listing of qualification/certification records.
Develop & deliver Refresher Training on SMP’s as required, on request or resulting from, MOC request or Audit findings.
Establish & maintain area reference material library.
Develop & deliver Training on Minor Maintenance work for Operation Personnel.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Associate or Technical Degree with 10 – 20 years combined experience in mechanical, instrument or electrical equipment maintenance and industrial training within a chemical process facility, refinery or gas and oil production environment.
Experience should include hands on experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, instrument and / or electrical equipment i.e. rotating equipment, fixed equipment and mobile hoisting equipment.
Classroom/facilitation experience.
Proficient with PC’s and Internet technologies.
Specific knowledge of Mechanical techniques is desirable.
Also, desirable are skills in job and training need analysis, development of standard operating and maintenance procedures, quiz development and validation, and course material and curriculum development using the latest Internet technologies.
